영명 : Puan spine loach
학명 : Iksookimia pumila

(상세 설명)

몸길이는 6-7cm로 작으며, 몸과 머리가 옆으로 납작하다. 머리는 길고 작은 눈은 머리 양쪽 옆에 가운데보다 약간 위쪽에 붙어 있다. 입은 작고 입술은 두껍다. 주둥이는 긴 편이며 위턱이 아래턱보다 길게 나와 있다. 수염은 모두 3쌍이다. 암컷보다 수컷이 더 작고 가슴지느러미가 약간 더 길다. 몸의 양쪽 옆면에는 진한 갈색의 작은 반점이 아가미 뒤부터 꼬리지느러미까지 줄을 지어 있다. 느린 유속의 물이 맑고 바닥이 자갈과 모래로 이루어진 하천에 서식한다. 잡식성이며 주로 자갈 등에 붙어사는 미생물이나 수생 곤충을 먹는다. 산란기는 4-8월이며 완전히 성숙하는 데에 약 2년이 걸린다. 국내 신종이다. 최근 백천 하류에 부안댐이 형성되어 이들의 서식 범위가 극히 좁아져 위험에 처해 있다. 전북 부안군 변산반도 백천내에만 분포하는 한국 고유종이다.
