Inanda Eco-Trails

Overview

The Inanda Eco-trails is situated on an expansive plateau between the uMngeni and Mzinyathi Rivers. The plateau provides visitors with spectacular views over the Inanda Dam, down the uMngeni Valley and up the pristine Mzinyathi Gorge. A number of activities are on offer for visitors, including hiking, birding, mountain biking, rock climbing and visits to interactive experiences with local community. In addition to spectacular scenery, the main attractions include the gorge hike to the waterfall and prayer cave, and the Shembe churches' pilgrimage village, which is visited twice annually by up to a million pilgrims.

Driving Directions: Take the M13 west from Durban to Hillcrest. Take the Old Main Road/Hillcrest off-ramp and turn right into Old Main
Road. Travel along Old Main Road (approximately 2.6 km) into Hillcrest and turn right into Inanda Road. Travel along Inanda Road and turn left into Blessing Ninela Road (Fischer Road) at the
Brackenhill/Inanda sign. Follow this road, which later becomes Ngwele Road, into the valley. Travel on Ngwele Road and turn right into MR259 (Approximately 4km from Ngwele Rd/Brackenhill Rd intersection). Travel along the MR259 for approximately 11 km across a bridge over the uMngeni River and turn right into Matabetulu Road. Travel on this road to the information office at the parking area for the Shembe site. The alternative route is to
