The Soap Room started in Pietermaritzburg at the end of 2011 and was established in response to a need for locally made, 100% natural soap, particularly for individuals suffering from skin ailments such as allergies, execema, psoriasis and dry skin. They produce four different types of soap which are fragrance free for these customers, i.e. they do not contain any essential oils:

Dry Skin formula with extracts of Chamomile and Calendula, Oatmeal, Castille (pure olive oil & beeswax), Goatsmilk and Raw Honey.

The Soap Room produces a wide variety of soaps (about 15 different types using essential oils) for a wide range of skin types (e.g. Dry Skin, Normal Skin, Normal to Dry Skin, Normal to Oily Skin, Sensitive Skin). They also produce a wonderful natural Anti-Acne and Anti-Fungal Soap which customers have found to be very effective. During 2013 and 2014, The Soap Room added additional products to include 100% Natural Deodorant, Insect Repellent, Solid Moisturizers, ‘Heel’ Balm, Lip Balm as well as a Shampoo Bar. Their 100% natural deodorants do not contain any preservatives, alcohol, aluminium, synthetic substances or petro-chemicals. The main deodorant base is made up of Distilled Water, Sodium Bicarbonate, Vegetable Glycerine, Aloe Vera Gel, Kaolin Clay and Xanthum Gum. The four different deodorants are available as Fragrance Free, Floral Bouquet (rose geranium blend), Herbal Bliss and Spiced Wood. The Palm oil used is RSPO certified sustainable.

These products are an excellent choice for individuals concerned about the quality of the skin care products they use, health related benefits and the environment.
