Montclair Historical Society
Overview
The Montclair Historical Society (MHS) is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization whose mission is to cultivate a strong sense of community by engaging residents and visitors through exhibits and programs. MHS was founded in 1965 to save the Israel Crane House, a Federal Revival styled home built in 1796. Since then, four homes have been saved from demolition. The goal for MHS is to preserve as many buildings in the Township of Montclair to educate the public on the history of the area.
The society's office is open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm. During these hours, it is welcomed for the public to call to schedule an appointment to use the Albert P. Terhune Library by calling or emailing.
