Gimme Shelter Construction
このサイトについて
As designers and builders of energy-efficient, high-performance homes, Gimme Shelter Construction incorporates sustainable materials and renewable energy systems. Materials are chosen based on durability, environmental impact, low-toxicity and relative cost. GSC does not use vinyl siding or other manufactured materials that are less durable and create undesirable environmental hazards for occupants.
The homes are among the highest rated in the Green Built Homes program for green building practices and design. In 2000, GMC won the Wisconsin FOCUS ON ENERGY Sustainable Builder or the Year Award, and the National Association of Home Builder’s Research Center EnergyValue Housing Award. GMC also won the National Home Builder Association’s Innovative Construction Award in 1999. Gimme Shelter Construction’s building is powered by photovoltaic panels and solar hydronic panels heat water for in-floor radiant heat. A masonry heater heats the shop space as well. In addition, the team uses portable photovoltaic panels mounted on a trailer to provide power to jobsites before conventional electrical hook-ups are available.
