Govans Urban Forest
Overview
This space is managed by York Road Partnership in collaboration with Loyola University and the Friends School, and inspired by the large number of empty and unused lots owned by the city. This urban forest is a forerunner for even more spaces similar to it to be constructed, a project Baltimore Green Space is working to increase the number of forest patches in the city. Forest patches make up about 34% of all green canopy in Baltimore, and are an important part of sustaining city ecosystems.
For more information on forest patches, read this report: http://www.baltimoregreenspace.org/downloads/BGSspring2013web_000.pdf
