16 Eighth Avenue
White Cottage
Built in 1885 for Samuel T. White, the house is 2 1/2 stories. In the front gable wall under its curving roof is an arched opening. The wall siding and shingled gable ends were painted in white for a long time, but a new color scheme of pale-green with deep red trim began emerging in 1998.

Triplet Houses?
Three cottages at 10 Eighth Avenue, 12 Eighth Avenue, and 16 Eighth Avenue were built as neighbors in 1882, 1883, and 1885. All three had identical building footprints, a vernacular Victorian style, curving front roof lines and five-column front porch. but a close comparison reveals noteworthy differences. The big surpise is that one was moved halfway around the circling avenue.
