Park asub Puusepa tänava ja Lunini tänava vahel.
Park on alguse saanud endisest, 1938. aastal prof. Andres Mathieseni poolt rajatud puukoolist, kust on pärit enamik kohe pärast sõda Tartusse istutatud puudest.
