Overview

One of Sarasota's premier attractions and a cultural icon, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art has made environmental stewardship a priority. The museum staff has taken aggressive measures to reduce its environmental impact. The custodial manager researched and replaced toxic cleaners with green products that are reducing pollution and saving money. The world-renowned grounds consist of native Florida plants that use less water while providing spectacular vistas for museum visitors.

This business is part of the Green Business Partnership. The Green Business Partnership (GBP) encourages environmental stewardship in the commercial sector, and recognizes businesses that make an extra effort to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This collaborative effort includes businesses, business organizations and local governments. The GBP was initiated through a grant awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to Sarasota County. The program now has roughly 100 local members.
